The purpose of the Oregon Aviation Historical Society (OAHS) is to collect, preserve, restore and exhibit Oregon aviation artifacts. In addition, the Society is committed to the establishment of a resource and education center for Oregon aviation historical research.

The Society was incorporated in June 1983 by a small group of aviation enthusiasts who recognized the need to form an organization dedicated to the proposes stated above. The Oregon Aviation Historical Society is the only state wide organization dedicated to preserving Oregon's rich aviation heritage for future generations. The corporation is an exempt organization within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).

Since inception, the OAHS has collected many artifacts, interviewed a number of Oregon aviation pioneers and produced several exhibitions at various locations. The Society has taken the approach of bringing the aviation history of Oregon to the people through traveling displays,. Significant exhibits have been seen at the Oregon Air Fair, Corvallis Air Fair and Newberg Vintage Celebration as well as at various retail malls and other public locations.

In December 1998, the Society began construction of the 50' X 80' Oregon Aviation History Center on property leased from the Oregon Aeronautics Division at the Cottage Grove airport. Occupied in early 2000, the Center serves as the central repository for all of the Society's many artifacts. It also provides a location to prepare historical exhibits for display at both that location and venues throughout Oregon. Since all of the Society's collection of historically significant documents will be stored at the Center, it may be accessed as a resource for Oregon aviation historical research and education.

The Society is supported by membership dues and donations. The History Center is not open to the public, however, it is available for private visits and research projects by prior arrangement. It is also open for special occasions. No admission fees are charged. Membership categories stat at $25 per year for an associate membership. A regular newsletter is published to keep members informed o the Society's activities and included articles concerning Oregon aviation history. Submissions for articles for publication in the newsletter are encouraged.

Currently the OAHS has no paid staff. A core volunteer group of individuals performs all necessary functions of the Society. This included the construction of the History Center. It is governed by a 16-member board of directors elected by the membership.

The Oregon Aviation Historical Society truly serves the entire population of Oregon and others who have an interest in or seek information regarding Oregon's rich aviation history. If you would like to help preserve this treasure by becoming a member or contribution artifacts, please contact the Society at PO Box 553, Cottage Grove, Oregon 97424.
